Hard Drive Problems?

A intricate drive of mine crashes.I take it to the Geek Squad, who start it right spinal column up.so I just thieve it home and re-install it. Good right? Well, the only problem is.I am missing close to 10 GB's of information that is stored on the Hard Drive and I do not know how to access it. The Hard Drive properties speak that 18 GB of information is used, but going through the file folders, I can singular access about 8.9GB of info. Any thinking on how to retrieve/view the lost materials?

Hard Drive Problems?

This is not unheard of. Your drive is failing and I would no longer trust it. SALVAGE what you can off of the drive.

Get a untried drive and a USB drive enclosure. Put your older one in the USB cage...reinstall your system onto your new drive and SALVAGE your background from the failing drive.

Sorry, not much you can do unless you want to send it out for background recovery....this can cost $600 or more depending on how much crack is needed. Automated recovery is usually flat rate and forensic retrieval will definitely cost.

http://www.ontrack.com/ is one service, you can google others DATA RECOVERY SERVICE flush
Could be your hard drives are partitioned for a consistent percentage of workspace area (bytes). Or perchance they replaced your old intricate drive.
Bad drive, dump it to another and scrap it(before you loose everything)

Hard drive problem, 3 Beeps?

When I press the power button, adjectives I hear is BEEP *pause* BEEP *pause* BEEP. The monitor is working, but the screen is blank, as if I hadn't turn it on. What could be the problem?

Hard drive problem, 3 Beeps?

Not the rugged drive, the memory. One or more of your RAM sticks is faulting. Take them out and question paper one at a time (or take 'em to a computer place).
Go here and it will convey you what the beep codes stingy.

Hard Drive Into Floppy Drive Bay???

Is it possible to insert a sturdy drive into a floppy drive bay? Especially surrounded by a Dell? I have a Dell Optiplex GX60 and I do not intend on using the floppy drive installed on it, and I want to install a second frozen drive, but there are no more bay left, bar that useless floppy drive bay.

And please contribute an answer that IS helpful. None of that two-word sentence WTF , NO bullshit. I'd appreciate a honourable concise answer.

Hard Drive Into Floppy Drive Bay???

The only passageway to know for sure if it will fit is to get the dimensions of the tricky drive and compare that to the space left whne you remove the floppy. Please entry that the IDE cable that hooks up to your floppy is the wrong type. It is too small. However, if you have one HDD, within should be a second IDE plug available on that line. You also want a source for power. The floppy's is the wrong size. You need duplicate size as the HDD or an optical drive (CD or DVDROM drive)

Now, if it won't fit, you are not out of luck. You can get an external crate for the drive. They usually come with a power cable and a USB or Firewire cable. Check what ports you own available(USB and/or Firewire) and get an appropriate work area.

Hard Drive Format Error?

So the other daylight I defraged my H drive, and it was working fine untill I open up a folder that had a virus or something surrounded by it. and now every time I click on the H Drive none of my folders come up and it asked if I want to re format my unyielding drive. What do I do because I have profoundly of stuff on that drive and I dont want to re format it. Help!

Hard Drive Format Error?

It sounds like it get pretty screwed up by that virus. You might be able to verbs the data sour of it though. Try using Recuva, it's free and works quite very well (I have used it a few times to retrieve background off of a fruitless drive).
In this case you entail Professional Grade Software recovery programming...The best I know of is OnTrack EasyRecovery Pro. This program will restore your health data even past its sell-by date of a Formatted hard drive!!! (Personally used it to restore your health 90% of data lost to formatting!)

Hard Drive Failure?

I just this minute had a problem near the hard drive and in a minute the drive is no longer recognized by the PC, and will not boot.

Does anyone know the cheapest mode to retrieve the data from a non-working complicated drive. When I noted the drive was failing, i used spinrite which be of no help at this point. the drive is 100 see. Many places require as much as 1-2 thousand to get the information from the platters, but I heard in attendance are more reasonable places to check but not aware where on earth to go. Any information would be appreciated.

Hard Drive Failure?

You draw from what you pay for. I can narrate you I've tried the local guy who does recoveries surrounded by his basement and he messed up my drive. So I took it to a pro CBL http://www.cbltech.com and they couldn't do anything because the other guy scratched up the platters. I'm funding up all the time immediately so I avoid any problems in the adjectives.
i have a restoration program that can budge on a thumb drive and scan the hard drive for files. If you want step by step instructions on how to do this later email me.

Hard drive cloning/copy software put somebody through the mill?

Hi

Does anyone know of a flawless but free hard drive cloning/copying download? I'm putting a current large unyielding drive; some of the existing files are corrupted and probably won't copy. I need a piece of software that will skip corrupted files- and MAYBE generate a roll of the bad wallet names...OR at lowest possible one that won't get stuck on the first impossible file.

Any accepted wisdom??

Thanks in mortgage for any help.

Patrick

Hard drive cloning/copy software put somebody through the mill?

Just a suggestion, install and setup the unsullied drive. Then install the old drive as a Slave drive.

Run scandisk on the older drive with the fix errors box checked.

Copy the files you want from the out-of-date drive. The Bad files should no longer be an issue.

Good Luck
You must repair the drive before copying it or you will basically copy the corruption to the new drive. Cloning software is only that, bit for bit copying.
dd will do this for you when you use the noerror flag.

Hard Drive and Booting Problems?

Try repairing Windows. If XP, follow this:

http://www.informationweek.com/shared/pr...

Then ALWAYS properly shutdown your PC so that you do not corrupt your OS again.
You call for to re-install your operating system. But if you can actually boot into window, schedule a scandisk to run on subsequent boot up. Also run a defrag. Better save any noteworthy files you got to compact disc, DVD, NAS or whatever. Failure is immanent
