What is the difference between DDR and SD RAM. Which will be better contained by terms of behaviour and cost
Computer RAM?
Go to the following link, http://www.crucial.com/uk they can do an on queue check which will determine which ram your motherboard supports. They will recommend the optimum amount. You can instruct on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for apposite ram. They guarantee compatibility near your motherboard and give an excellent warranty.They lso donate fitting instructions. I have used them masses times and always be satisfied. Hope this help.
DDR = Double Rated
SDR = Single Rated
DDR is faster
Most new systems require DDR2, SDRAM will not work within that motherboard.
Depends on what type of open slots you own, their connectors are different.
But if you want faster performane the DDR is faster.
i find DDR 2 ram is cheaper on the lattice
Technically DDR Ram is SD RAM but (in theory at least) can execute twice as fast as it can two whereabouts per clock cycle (hence double data rate). In practice (depending on the motherboard) expect anything from a 20-60% speed difference
Most modern boards immediately take DDR memory. You can mix and game memory but the computer will generally merely perform as in a hurry as the slowest memory chip installed. Check your motherboard manual and see what is the fastest memory you can put surrounded by.
Memory is so cheap these days it pays to put the fastest you can afford and a minimum of 1GB for better rite. (1GB of SDRAM would make window perform far faster than only just 256MB of DDR)
