i'm looking to buy this mixer Helix Board 24 FireWire MKII and hooking it up next to cubase SX3, as an DAW interface and recording interface

does that connote i can control only 2 channel from Cubase via firewire?

I think it vehicle you can record up to 16 separate channel from the mixer onto 16 separate tracks in Cubase. But it single returns 2 channels backbone into the mixer for playback and monitoring (usually a master L and R). You won't be able to control the level separately that are already in Cubase using the mixer.
