Hi, if your DVD-Rom is unsullied it comes with the installation cd that include the player software e.g Cyberlink Power DVD to playback DVD movies. As for driver it will auto detect surrounded by Win Xp and auto install. Is your dvd disc compatible with your DVD-Rom. If not it will not read. Try this connect to if you don't have a DVD playback software you can download.

okay it doesn't need one.. likse mine.. it requirements software dor buning dvd's and cd's like nero
