Do I want a USB 2.0 experienced port to use my memory stick that requires USB 2.0?

Can I still use my behind the times USB port to use it? Or do I have to upgrade?

No, you do not -- USB 2.0 is backwards compatible. I use USB 2.0 memory sticks and other devices on my 5+ year behind the times Compaq desktop that only have USB 1.0 ports. It works just fine, but as expected you lose the speed that USB 2.0 offers as compared to 1.0.

Incidentally, you can a short time ago insert the memory stick in your older USB port and get your answer!
yes you have need of one.
