Defraging External Hard Drive.?

I own an external hard drive that have a lot of files, mostly my songs for my Ipod. The external tricky drive is an I Book. Will it hard the external tricky drive if I do a defrag?

it will take a long time to defrag, but probably speed it up somewhat.



run the defrag 3 times after each other, and after respectively of them fully complete to get the best result.
